K-5 LEARNING FRAMEWORK: 3-day homeschool tutorial program for children ages 5 through 12 (K-5th grade, must be 5 by May 2026)

Our Homeschool Tutorial Program is a relationship-centered learning community designed to support homeschooling families through a thoughtful blend of academic instruction, differentiated instruction, and meaningful experiences in nature. We focus on creating a supportive learning environment where children are known, valued, celebrated, and challenged while in partnership with families as they navigate at home learning alongside us.

At the heart of our program is the belief education should honor both the developmental needs of children and the natural curiosity that drives authentic learning. We work to create a robust balance between structured academic instruction and the freedom to explore, create, play, and discover. Students engage in grade-level core subjects aligned with academic standards while also participating in experiential learning opportunities that connect classroom concepts to the living world around them.

Our learning framework is living and responsive, moving with respect for children, our forest and farm environment, and the rhythms of the seasons. Learning is not confined to four walls but extends into gardens, fields, forests, and outdoor classrooms where students can experience concepts firsthand and develop a deeper connection to their studies.

Our academic program is fully standards and benchmark aware, and using that knowledge as a roadmap to help guide learning and track growth, while recognizing meaningful learning rarely happens in isolated boxes or in one framework. Rather than following a rigid scope and sequence, our teachers thoughtfully weave standards into engaging projects, interdisciplinary studies, and authentic learning experiences.

Drawing from research-based educational practices, our program incorporates project-based learning, collaborative learning, authentic assessment, hands-on exploration, playful learning, and social-emotional development. Small class sizes allow teachers the flexibility to individualize instruction based on student strengths, needs, interests, observations, and assessments. This personalized approach ensures that children receive both appropriate support and opportunities for growth while maintaining a love of learning.

Beyond core academic subjects, students are immersed in a rich variety of enrichment experiences that encourage creativity, problem-solving, leadership, and stewardship. Learning is child-centered and nature-focused, with hands-on exploration serving as a cornerstone of the educational experience. Students regularly engage with their studies through outdoor investigations, creative projects, nature immersion, and real-world applications that make learning both meaningful and memorable.

Operating within a one-room schoolhouse model, our program offers the unique opportunity for students to learn within both grade-level and multi-age communities. Core academic instruction takes place within grade-specific groups, while daily rhythms create opportunities for the entire school community to gather, play, collaborate, and learn together. Through shared projects, mentorship opportunities, and integrated thematic studies, students develop strong relationships across age groups while cultivating a sense of belonging, responsibility, and community.

Our goal is to nurture capable learners, compassionate citizens, and confident individuals by creating an educational environment that values academic growth, character development, family partnership, and connection to the natural world. Through intentional instruction, meaningful relationships, and immersive learning experiences, we strive to cultivate a lifelong love of learning while honoring the unique journey of each child.
